Polish national team made its debut in the Special Olympic World Games in 1983.
Currently, Special Olympics Association Poland incorporates 18 regional divisions and 564 sections. 17,190 athletes and 1,612 coaches take part in trainings and competition. The movement is supported by 1,114 family members and 4,500 volunteers. Every year, around 200 Special Olympics competitions and events in 20 summer and winter disciplines are held.
Special Olympics Association Poland is governed by a 13-member National Committee. Mrs Katarzyna Frank-Niemczycka is the Chairman of the Association.
Special Olympics Association Poland has been a member of the Polish Olympic Committee since 1990.
